What is a Hair Transplant?

A hair transplant is a minor surgical procedure that relocates healthy hair from one part of the scalp to another, in order to restorate natural hair growth.
Although hair Transplantation has been around for decades, it was the recent developments, in the last one decade, that refined the hair transplant techniques to a level at which the procedures have become consistently successful.

How does it Work?

During a hair transplant, the hair is moved from the part of the scalp where hair is not susceptible to genetic baldness (usually the back and sides of the head). This hair is then implanted into the area of the scalp affected by hair loss (usually the front, top and crown of the head). This will lead to a uniform and natural hair growth across the affected area.

Hair Transplant Techniques

The two main types of hair transplant techniques are Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and Follicular Unit Transplantion (FUT).

The main difference between FUE and FUT is the extraction technique used to harvest follicular units. In FUT or strip method, you are given local anaesthesia in the donor area of your scalp (usually the back) where the hair never undergoes balding and a strip of scalp skin with hair is cut. The donor area is then sutured. This typically leaves a fine scar that’s easily hidden by your remaining hair. The follicular units are then removed from the donor strip under microscopic control and divided into natural groupings of one, two and three hair follicular units. In FUE, we still use the follicular unit approach to hair restoration, but instead of removing a donor strip, we remove one individual follicular unit at a time. The instrumentation (0.8-1.0 mm punch) we use is so small that the donor area is left with tiny, almost invisible dot marks.

Recovery Time

Both FUE and FUT hair transplant methods have a very manageable recovery time and painkillers can be prescribed by your surgeon if needed. Hair Transplants are outpatient surgical procedures with some patients going back to work as soon as the very next day. Results will show within 6-12 months, although the new grafts will have begun growing earlier.

Clients Words

Painless Hair Transplant
I am so happy I had the procedure as it was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I have not had any pain apart from feeling a little sore where the stitches are. The whole team was fantastic, even the receptionist, they all made me feel at ease and at no point was I nervous as I felt I was in good hands. Doctor Nurein was so nice and the procedure was painless. It was an experience that I would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about having a hair transplant, it was better than expected, and the staff are so friendly and experienced it made me feel at home and was a stress free experience. I would rather have this done again then going to the dentist! Many thanks to all staff and Dr Hassan Nurien for making it an enjoyable and stress free day.

Delighted with results
I feel lucky to have come across Dr Nurein as to be honest I was thinking of going abroad to have a hair transplant. He put my mind at ease about what to expect and that I may pay less going abroad but I wouldn’t have the same peace of mind of having it done here in the UK. Dr Nurein was so attentive and conscientious throughout the process that I just felt in really good hands. Anyway its been just over 6 months since my hair transplant was done and I’m totally delighted with the outcome and can honestly say I’m so glad I made the decision I did. A big thanks to the team and now you’re going to get my brother as a client too!

I cannot thank you enough
A great many thanks to Dr Nurein and the team for all the care and attention given to me yesterday during my procedure, I cannot thank you enough. Just to let you know that I woke up this morning with no pain, just a little soreness of the scalp, but so far so good. Kind Regards to you all.
