What is gynecomastia?
Gynecomastia, also known as enlarged men breasts or man boobs, affects almost 70% of men. Often developing during the puberty stages, gynecomastia occurs when an abnormality in the ratio of hormones causes small lumps to grow under each nipple.
These lumps sometimes disappear over time but can also continue to grow resulting in what is commonly referred to as ‘man boobs’ or ‘moobs’. This is a serious and psychologically distressing condition which often leads to depression and social alienation.
In some cases the cause of gynecomastia is unknown. We recommend seeing your GP first to rule out any treatable causes.
How soon can I see the results?
Some results will be visible straight after the procedure. There will be a visible improvement and reduction in the chest shape. However, the final results will be visible within 2 weeks - 2 months.
After surgery, you will be required to wear post-operative garments, which will aid faster recovery and a satisfactory final result.

What happens during gynecomastia surgery?
Gynecomastia surgery, also known as male breast reduction, is carried out under local or general anaesthesia. The entire procedure takes approximately 2 hours.
During the procedure, the surgeon makes a small incision around the nipple and performs liposuction, gland excision, or both.
LIPOSUCTION: During the procedure, the surgeon vacuums the fat out of the breast to reduce the size.
EXCISION: This technique is used if the surgeon needs to remove the glandular tissue or remove excess skin.
