About Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, also known as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that aims to reshape or reconstruct the nose for cosmetic or functional purposes. Septoplasty is a surgical procedure that aims to correct a deviated septum, which is a condition where the nasal septum (the wall of cartilage and bone that separates the two nostrils) is misaligned, causing breathing difficulties or other functional issues.

How Does Rhinoplasty Work?

The surgeon makes incisions, typically inside the nostrils (closed rhinoplasty) or across the columella (the strip of tissue between the nostrils) and inside the nostrils (open rhinoplasty). The specific incision technique may vary depending on the surgeon's preference and the complexity of the procedure.

The amount of downtime required for rhinoplasty can vary depending on the extent of the surgery and the individual’s healing process. In general, patients can expect to take about one to two weeks off work or school and avoid strenuous activities for several weeks following the surgery. It may take several months for the swelling to fully subside and for the final results of the procedure to become apparent
